Description

This is a collection of letters written by Henry Welch, corporal in the 123rd New York State Volunteer Infantry Regiment (Washington County Regiment).

Biography

Henry Welch enlisted at Granville, New York, on August 11, 1862, at age 18, to serve three years. He mustered in as a private in Company K on Sept. 4, 1862, and was promoted to corporal in June 1864. He was wounded in action on July 20, 1864, at the Battle of Peach Tree Creek, Georgia. He was absent at muster-out of the company. Inventory
